East Timor is the newest emerging nation, born on the 20th of May 2002. It has a long history of occupation by first the Portuguese and then from 1975-1999 the Indonesians. After a long and bitter resistance and struggle for independence, the people of Timor is finally free. Today, the place still tells of the past destruction but the people are moving on and looking forward to a brighter future.
