<Pic Above: Mr Mantis 'attacking' my clothes. It's a pity I don't have a macro lens. |
I stayed in a cosy cabin in WV compound and there are a lot of tiny brainless ants because they will risk their lives to eat any food. I found some ants in my pot which I've soaked the night before so that I can easily washed off rice that is stuck to it. Of cos those silly ants drowned. Then there are those that nibbled at my dish-washing sponge and killed themselves. And the 'best' are those that tried to eat some rice(which fell off while I was cooking) and burned themselves to death near the stove. Besides the brainless ants, there are also many mosquitoes, crickets, stick insect, praying mantis and other weird and beautiful insects around. It's a heaven for macro-photography lovers. Remember to bring your macro lens! (so that I can also borrow...hehe) |
| Malaria is common so do use mosquito repellents when wearing shorts and short sleeve shirts. The WV doctor told me that he sees about 10-20 malaria cases everyday. And that is just in ONE clinic. In a span of a week, 2 of my colleagues(locals) had gotten malaria and that is of cos not their first time.(in fact, countless according to them!) Symptoms for malaria include fever, diarrhoae, chills, fatigue, headache. So head for a check immediately if you experience any of the symptoms. One of my collegue only had headache and fatigue as the symptoms. So don't assume that because you have no fever, therefore you have no malaria. | |
